X-IAS has begun its year-long monitoring of the Minho estuary, with the first field campaigns completed on 4-5 March and 3-4 June. The team sampled zooplankton, macroinvertebrates, fishes and the target invasive species: Corbicula fluminea, Egeria densa and Lepomis gibbosus, along with sediment and water. A first campaign to collect material for the stable-isotope analysis, which will place these species in the estuary's food web, has also been carried out.
The X-IAS Kick-Off Meeting took place on 21 November 2025 at CIIMAR, marking the official launch of the project. During the meeting, it was discussed the planned field sampling campaigns, project objectives, work plan, and the coordination of upcoming activities.
